Stresslevel up.. and up a bit more :)

I just want to apologize for my spelling, i am very dyslectic.
Dont have the time to let some body check all these blogges..
But its about the story ;) so if you can read over them it would be great!!

After Reinier, we met Maureen Powel, maureen is a talented artist.
Again i want to get the message out that art doesn't need a frame.
Art is every where, from a pair of killer heels (on auction at union, by fabulous shoe designers Peterson Stoop) but also some thing a bit sweeter..

Eatable art!

Wel thank you Maureen..i LOVE to eat and i LOVE art.. no better combination possible for me.
Maureen is a successful model who started her own business on the side. Sucre scale, every cake , tart or cupcake is hand made till in the littlest details. She makes them with love and that is visual :)
They are stunning, check her website out http://www.sucre-sale.nl/  and next time you have a celebration get ur sweets from her!

Well Maureen is teaming up with us, she will make cupcakes for UNION<3
It will have our logo on it!!

very exciting !!!!

ITS GETTING CLOSER :) 7 june UNION

So, here i am again,

I was telling you about Reinier More, a very talented artist. He makes very special not so ordinary things. I think he is the only one making them in the benelux !

We where a bit shocked about his website but decided to go and meet him!
When we left my house i spoke to my mum on the phone...if i dont pick up with in 5 hours please check with Jessica's phone ;0

We arrived on his wonderful farm in the north of Holland, Reinier is a young man with a very nice personality :)
Nothing like we imagined..wel its pretty hard to picture some body on the hand of this website.

We had a nice cup of coffee and went to have a look at his work.
I was blown away by everything...so amazing :)
Reinier thought we where funny and nice girls with a dream and wanted to start a collaboration with us...we wanted a very special prop for our event and he agreed on lending it to us...

When we where sitting back down, and smoking a cigarette 2getter, me and Jessica where quit curious about what got him in to this line off work. Reinier started to explain, he owned his own business from a very young age and got very successful! His wife is a designer, she makes beautiful couture from latex!! Because they where basically settled money wise. He wanted to do something he loved..and that was what he is doing now!
AMAZING!

He casually brought up that he didn't like all the fetish party's, the gay scene was sometimes a bit to much for him..with all do respect off course , he aded.
He didn't like it when he was ordering a beer and next to him some one was ordering a drink with blood and poo dripping down his arm..hahaha
We laughed, not able to imagen this scene.. but fetish is also very delicate Reinier added, it doesn't need to be in your face!

We love adding reinier and cosmiic events to our list of partners :) very proud.

Cosmic events | Maureen Powel

So here i am again, bin super busy the last couple off days.

Lets go back the 9th of may. Me and Jessica, got inspired from an idea conceived by Delany from Matsukii's wolrd.
Matuskii's world is sponsoring us with dansers | show girls. She had an idea for a special act durring UNION. When Jessica and i heard about this idea we knew it was a long shot but we wanted to do it.

I cant tell you exactly what the special act is...we want to ceep it it big surprise, but we had to meet Reinier More for the prop for this act.
We met Reinier at his atelier in the top of Holland. He has a big farm, with his atelier in the barn. The day before we went and checked out his website...we where confused.
This couldn't be the right website. It was a website for fetish party's | Dominatrix | and the renting of cages, contraptions and other fetish stuff: cosmicevents.nl
But it had to be the correct website, we checked it like 10 times to be shure hahaha... me and Jessica where interested to meet Reinier. We had no idea on how to picture this guy.

When we arrived at his farm he didnt look anything like we imagined.

ill tell more later...im running late for meetings..

for now..

El Rod | Cosmic Events

So the 7th and 8th of May...

At this stage of our preparation I am super busy, every day is a UNION day ...
... fun but overwhelming.

Jessica and I really wanted to do UNION well.
We want to host a spectacle, a show!

We have been in more than 100 fashion shows, seen what is possible and knew what we wanted. We want to give the audience an experience they wouldn’t soon forget. When a fashion show starts, you feel a rush going trough your body. As a spectator you get this same energy over you. When that first step is taken on the catwalk, it’s like you are mesmerized, the model and the audience.
This feeling comes with a price tag though ;) the lighting, music, smoke machine, outfit, shoes, hair, make up, every single thing is thought of. We want that same energy during UNION.

You have to leave UNION with the feeling you just had great sex and are ready for your cigarette.

So to get close to this feeling, we thought of a very special final act, something that will blow your mind and shizzle your ears. El Rod. El Rod is a electronic, funk, soul, jazz, singer/songwriter.  I can’t really explain his music...just that it is hot and funky. It makes you want to dance  :) He is playing in the Melkweg this coming Wednesday 30th May, so check him out, El  Rod

We had a meeting with him, and talked for over an hour. He is such a talent and a great guy to hang out with. At the end off the meeting he confirmed .. he was in !!!! Woop Woop!! We had a closing act!!! Jessica and I looked at each other, we have no budget and all these wonderful talents team up with us, because they believe in our concept.. there is need for UNION in these times of cultural cuts!!

Ok next stop... Cosmic Events.
So we want to blow the audience away, we had one special act in mind, but we actually thought this could never happen without a budget.

It our special surprise act.. A dream, a vision.. but so far it seemed impossible.
Now I am not going to say what it is..you just have to come and see at UNION, but I am going to thank Reinier More for now. A wonderfull artist.

Tomorrow you will hear the spectacular stories behind our special act!

So speak soon

Claudius de Krenten Koning | MCToko | Karsu Donmez

On the 4th of may, we had a day full of meeting's planned.

Our first meeting was with Claudius de Krenten Koning.
Arend, our contact in the location De Verdieping (De Trouw), every Wednesday we have a check up..See how things are evolving and if everything planned for UNION is realistic and going by plan.
Arend suggested a couple off days back that we go and check out Claudius de Krenten Koning. And so we did..Claudius is a AMAZING performer..we went to his CD release and got blown away!! Jesscia and i looked an eachother and smiled..he needed to be part of UNION!

So we met him, in between his rehearsals, he is a very busy talent. We explained our story and he was excited just like we where.. in the end of our meeting he said...I am 80% in, I just need some time to check my diary. We promises we would sent our concept plus all the info about UNION to him so he could have a sleep over it and decide.

Next, we cycled to MC Toko, MC Toko is a theatre-workshop, a production company and a venue for new times in old city's. It is located in westerpark.
We where meeting Niels, Jessica new Niels and set up our meeting.
Niels is a very nice young driven guy who has a lot of ambitions. He was smiling all the way true our presentation, afterwards he admitted he had to laugh at us, in a good way tough. Two young girls with a plan but no money and good smiles..He said..I wouldn't be surprised if you get a lot off sponsors/talents, companies on board because u girls hand out empathy quite well haha.

We reached out to MC Toko because we needed a live jazz opening. Not a entire band but a saxophonist or a pianist, this talent would lift the entry for UNION massively and wil bring a real 920's atmosphere to the location.. Niels had some people in his mind already and promised us he would let us know the following day.
And so he did...he Thought off Karsu Donmez. Check her out.. she is amazing. karsu
is more than amazing actually!!! At only 16 years old she already played in Carnegie Hall in NY.

It would be sick if we got her... Niels is going to do his best for us..so he promised!

Statik Music | Sergio Hasselbaink | Bob Stel

2nd off May 2012,

We planned a meeting with Statik Music, Dutch actor Sergio Hasselbaink and designer Bob Stel. Lets start with Bob, Bob Stel is a amazing designer, owner off Crabsalad, a design studio. We reach out to him for our logo.
I know Bob for about 3 years now, great guy.
We pitched for him, explained that we had no budget and told him, what we would like our logo to look like, well roughly. We sounded like two blabbering excited girls...he was keeping his cool and luckily he said ...I'm in :)
Logo...in progress!

A few hours later we met Sergio Hasselbaink. Jessica got his contacts through the editor Steven Elbers who she worked with on other projects. Sergio was very nice, he was in a bit of a hurry, he had a play at the Stadschouwburg. The Stadsschouwburg is a theatre in the heart of Amsterdam located on the Leidseplein, a beautiful building from 1894. Sergio loved our initiative and confirmed working with us :) VERRY EXCITING!

After Sergio, Brian from Statik Music arrived. Static music is a group of three music producers.  Brian's artist name is All one. We asked him to DJ at UNION. We want our evening to start with '20 styled jazzy music and let the tunes guide you to the here and now. A sort of  audio time line that is played to give UNION'S first edition an extra level of experiences.
He was the third party to confirm with us that day and start a collaboration with.

It was a good day!

We are insanely happy with it!

Meeting Ashlee Janelle Danso

On the 1st off may we planned a meeting with Ashley Janelle Danso.  Ashley started her own businesses Styled by you, she  gives styling workshops to young fasionista's.  Next to that Ashsley is an upcoming freelance fashion stylist, she is also a student at the Vogue academy in Amsterdam.
To find out more about Ashley read her blog http://www.celebrities-musthaves.com/ .

The reason why we met up with her is quit special. Union's first edition will carry the theme of the roaring '20's. Ass a visiting guest you will suddenly find your self in a smokey boudoir, jazz music, a good glass of wine, show girls on tableau's the whole shaaabang.
We want our Union team to have a strong an convincing 1920 style.  All the volunteers, all the acts and all the hostesses will be dressed by Ashley.
It is a big challenge, we are asking her to dress over 20 people :)
Ashley is so very driven and open for any new ideas, as soon as me and Jessica finished explaining our concept.... she already nodded and smiled. Off course i am in, she cheerfully sad!
Ashley has lots off different contacts with press bureaus, a press bureau is an agency who rents out all designer clothing to wel known stylists. Usually the clothes are used in magazines like Elle, Vogue an Marie Claire. But Ashley sad the agency's also rent out for special events.

I couldn't be more happy!
Appart from styling 20 crew members for UNION, we also had an other question for her. When your entering our event UNION, we will give the guest the opportunity to have a professional photo taken by a well known fashion photographer in the lobby.
All the guest will be dressed up in the '20 style, to top that we want Ashley to give them a little bit off extra glam for there photo moment.
She will be in the photo booth with the photographer and will hand out last props and gadgets to have a amazing 20 styled photo. Imagen a extra little bo tie, suspenders, a hat, a mustache just little styling accessories.
Later on, in the evening, all the taken photo's that are taken in the lobby will rotate on a big screen in the main area. The guest will see there own professional photo on a big screen :)

Fun!!
Ashley loved the idea and is 100% in!!!

next stop a DJ...

Meeting Fringe

Jeffery Meulman from the Dutch theatre and the Fringe Festival was giving a presentation at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. It was a very interesting presentation. After the lecture I went to meet him in person.Jeffery is a very ambitious man with a lot of contacts in the theatre scene. For UNION we where still looking for actors. Jessica and I made an appointment with Jeffery so we could see if we could mean anything for each other. The meeting followed a few days later, Jeffery liked our concept and invited me and Jessica to a theatre show that upcoming Thursday.
In this show there where some actors who might be interested in supporting UNION, well that’s what Jeffery thought. The show was great, in Dutch theatre there is always nudity so I wasn’t surprised when in the first act, a women was doing a half scene topless J
You got to love it.. boobies !The actors where real good, after the show, Jeffery introduced me to Anneke. Anneke is a real cool spontaneous lady who is the connecting point off all the actors involved with Fringe. We planned a meeting with here and she gave us some good options for actors and directors.
We where running quit late on confirming our actors so you can imagine that Jessica an I where getting a bit more nervous every day, we stupidly thought that Jeffery could arrange all the actors for us, one phone call and we where done. Well we found out it doesn’t work like that. If you have money it might go that easy but with no budged that is just not possible, you need to get people excited and the only way to do that is a personal meeting, it would have been too easy.
So Jeffery gave us Anneke’s contact and through Anneke we got the email of Valentine.Still no confirmed actors....!Anyway Valentine is a professional actress, she also directs.
While Jessica and I where explaining our vision to her, she just smiled an nodded. She had amazing bright blue eyes, blond hair and she looks like a little porcelain doll. I could see the fire in here eyes underneath and I imagined why many men would melt before her.Over a cup off coffee we explained her everything about UNION.
We raised the point that the cuts in art and culture shouldn’t be seen as a negative thing, if the cuts are mad, lets make the best off it.

Union is about creating an independent creative sector, where the creative’s are supporting each other in there own initiatives, and those of others.
We don’t agree at all, with all the cuts that are being made, but we want to see it as a positive challenge. Now is the time for the real creative’s to rise above everything! This is our time.. UNION time. Her vision totally connected with ours, she gave us a breath of fresh air with her enthusiasm. She was in!!! And the best thing is that she knows some other actors who could be interested in joining UNION. Mission Complete..well on baby step furthur haha.

Meeting the Artist

24th off April.
Me and Jessica reached out to six amazing artist. We did quiet a lot off research about who to  approach. We wanted a mash off diverse art, art that we would want to have in our house...art that made us warm inside.
And again we wanted to get the message out that Art doesn't always need a list.
Art is everything and everywhere!
We invited:

Zoe Stekkel, Designer at H&M
Henk Loorbach, Super Electric Video, Makes video's with different techniques
Alljan Moehamad, Illustrator and photographer
Jelske Peterson (petersonstoop.com)
Jarah Stoop, shoe and bag designer
HobsonChant, international artists

Check them out and be astounded!

We invited these artist for a drink so we coud present our concept UNION and see if they where interested to collaborate with us.
UNION includes a silent auction. We want to lower the doorstep for art buyers and show them that art is everything and available for every one.
To get our message out there we decided to lower the price of the art and make it accessible for anybody.
We are MADLY starting our auction at  €20,00 !!!
This sounds RIDICULOUS we know...but why not?
With this statement we prove that artist want to encourage everyone in a purchase! These peices usually dont sell under 1000 euro, we are writing history!

I was terrified before the meeting, bubbles in my stomach, butterflies in my brain......  i felt like it was my birthday and i was scared that nobody would turn up, there i sat with my cake and a circle off empty chairs around me..scared of what would or what wouldn't happen.
The artist started to arrive and i was acting in a Bree van der kamp (desperate house wife's) sort off way, making sure everything went the way it should, and everyone had drinks and snacks!
Our presentation went well.
The respons off the artist was incredible, they where all very excited about UNION! It was a wonderful get together with positive energy.
The artist where so exited that they where thinking about original art pieces!! One of a kind...just for UNION!
I couldn't be more happy, lets all unify!
So we have six artist :) yay!!!!!
Next stop Theater.....Lets Go... reach out to FRINGE!

Update:
We are proud to present our recently joined artist  Bob Stel  http://www.crabsalad.nl/
Bob is a real talent, he designed the UNION logo, made a bumper and is now also creating a original art piece for the silent action. We will share the logo as soon as we go public (probably tomorrow :))
It is sick!

Meeting Matsukiis world

So we won the Pitch,We did it!!!! Now we just have to realize all our plans. Jessica and i had big idea's...could we make this thing happen with NO BUDGET?

On the 22nd of april we had our very first UNION meeting with www.matsukiisworld.com , Matsukki's world is owned by a very young sweet, intelligent,  lady called Delany. Delany has danced since she was 7 years old! Her pasion for dancing led her to start her own business. Matsukiis world is a entertainment company. We approach her because we wanted to start a collaboration with her!

The meeting went well, we gave her a short presentation about UNION. She loved our entier concept! So she decided she wanted to help us out with showgirls and dancers!
Jessica and i couldn't be more happy, we had our first partner on board. Delany was excited and loves the '20 styling!

Lets get this shit done...next meeting all the creative artist! meeting planned 24th of april.

The Pitch

So, on the 5th of April we had our pitch. Jessica and I stayed awake until late the night before practicing what we where going to say. We decided to use everything we had to win this pitch. At school I usually don’t dress the same way as when I am modelling. For castings and Go See’s I look, well, I hate to say it, but ‘like a model’; High heels, big bag, tight pants, or little dresses so the client can see your best assets; not in a hoochy way but in a very simple stylish way. A clean look. At school I wear sweaters and sports shoes, not badly dressed but casual, not standing out.  For our pitch we went all out! High heels, cute little dress, accessories the whole shaaabang!!!

Jessica and I are both 1.84 cm tall, I guess we drunk a lot off milk when we where growing up, and of course the upside down stretching helped ;) well 1.84  is like 6.0 ft , that is quit an eye catcher like it or not (I don’t like my height )…then top that height off  with a good few inches of heels on I almost reach 1.90 cm, 6.3ft | 6.4ft. Basically two giants hahahaa! We met know ‘ledge in front of the location, The Trouw. When he saw us he had to laugh (men get confused when they deal with taller women), so he made a little joke at his own expense.

We where the second to last holding our pitch, 27 groups had shared their ideas already. Some pitches where really original, others very interesting and some not so good.  Most of the students pitching where very nervous, we could tell, they where holding there papers in front off them and you saw there hands shaking from nerves. The stopwatch that the judges where using dint help of course. Every group only had two minutes to do their thing. When the timer went off the group had to stop immediately even if they didn’t finish their story.  Jessica and I felt very anxious too. It was terrifying trying to sell our idea to a proper venue in two minutes.

We looked at each other once more and then said to each other: use what we have. Our seven years of modelling gave us good presentation skills. We had to be ON! It doesn’t really matter what you say, it’s all about the signal you sent out. its all about energy. Make the judges feel comfortable. Its like a casting basically ;-) Smile sparkle and shine.
We walked on… we had two minutes, the judges started the timer.
Kno ‘ledge stood in the middle, Jessica and I on his left and his right. He started by rolling out a toilet roll with his poem written on it. It was very quiet; you could hear a needle drop. He presented his poem with passion and strength. When he finished the crowd went CRAZY applauding and cheering for him. We made our entry! Well Kno ‘ledge did. I looked at the judge with the stopwatch because time was ticking away; she smiled and put it on pause till the room was quit again. When everybody settled down we held our 1-minute pitch. It went well.
The judges disappeared for there deliberation, we went outside to get some fresh air…..pfff we where done J All the students kept on saying ooow look the winning group. Quite embarrassing. We where called back in side and the prizes where handed out by the judges. It was very strange feeling because lots of people told us that we should win, but we didn’t think we had the strongest concept. Then the first prize was given and yes…..it was us ….!!!
We took Kno ‘ledge to stage and claimed our prize.. UNION will be realized.

Meeting KNO 'LEDGE

I was so impressed and inspired by the spoken word artist Kno 'ledge from  Soul Rebel Foundation that I felt strongly about teaming up with him for UNION.
Kno 'ledge is a talented spoken words artist with African roots, he is an outspoken young political figure in Holland, and is basically amazing
Jessica and I had our concept ready and clear. Union unifies all arts. Union creates a creative explosion of different disciplines on one simple evening. We chose to involve the three biggest segments in the creative world. Music, Art and Theatre.
At this moment in time we had two days before we had our pitch, so our stress level was on full power!
29 different concepts were to be presented to the location (De Trouw). After all the pitches where given, the location would award four prices: The best pitch; the best concept; the most original concept and the first price winner. The first price winning pitch would win the location, enabling the concept to be realized (with no budget!)
Jessica and I felt strongly about out concept, we knew it wasn’t very original but we feel confident about the demand for a event like UNION right now.
We wanted to give the location a taste on what we would be bringing during UNION, so I called up Knoll 'edge to get together for a coffee.
It was very nice to get to know Kno'ledge better in a personal matter; he is such an inspiration and a very very nice person. We explained to kno'ledge what our idea was and how he felt about this? He loved our initiative and liked the idea of all becoming one, the unifying off all arts. We where bold enough to ask him if he would be interested to write a poem about UNION so we could start our pitch with him and make a good impression. He loved the idea, checked his schedule and said YES!!!!
He wrote this amazing poem about the Mona Lisa being missed placed, the Picasso is also gone.. Union will put everything back in its place. The poem is in Dutch here it is, (Google translate that shit ;))

PRINSEHOF DEBATE RACISM

So on the 7th off March I joined my father in a debate about discrimination, het Prinsenhof revisited. This debate was also held in the year 1984 when there was lots of confrontation between different immigrated groups, the Dutch police force and civilians. The immigrants felt excluded and discriminated by the whole Dutch system. Leading up to this debate was the murder on a young boy with Surinam’s roots Kevin Duinmijers. He was killed because of his skin tone and origins. This year the organised team of the Prinsenhof invited all the old speakers from then and asked them to bring their children, so we could continue the debate about discrimination and see witch form it takes in our modern society.

It was a very inspiring evening I even let a tear when a poem was presented by the very talented spoken words artist Know’ledge,( www.soulrebelmovement.org ).The poem was about zwarte Piet and Sinterklaas.

Let me explain: zwarte Piet is open discrimination witch is tolerated throughout Holland because of its traditional value, it’s a children’s feast on the 5th of December. Sinterklaas is a holy Saint that comes from Spain and gives out presents to the children who where good behaved that last year. Really something like Santa Claus.

Sinterklaas has a long white beard, rides a horse on the rooftops, where’s a red cloak and hands out candy and presents. That’s sounds all good and well but….. the significant different is that Sinterklaas doesn’t have green little helpers like Santa Claus, he has zwarte pieten who help him give out all the presents. Zwarte piet is black has golden earrings, black curly hair and red lips…any similarities with a certain group of people??? The Dutch government sais no…they are black because they went down the chimney to give the children presents...not because it’s a racial thing…it hurts.

I was so inspired by the spoken word artist that I had a little chat with him after the debate and got his info.

It was a night to remember.

Let's Go!

So to get you up to date and tell you the entire story, I have to go back to the 7th off march 2012 and start from there.

In this period I wasn't thinking that I would ever host an event at all. Jessica and I knew we would be pitching for the Trouw (the location) but thought that there was very a small change off us winning the Pitch.

We where working on the concept already.  We knew we wanted to do a combined evening with theatre music and art, but that’s pretty much all we had.

I randomly joined my father that very night to a debate, about discrimination he invited me to. Het Prinsenhof revisited. It was a inspirational evening. Opening my eyes. Ill tell you more tonight because I am super late for my meetings now ;0

Have to run…

Love CLUB MANHATTEN

Hey there

So my name is Eke Bon, 26 years old and just started school again. I worked as an international model for the last 7 years, traveling to NY, Milan, Paris, London, Barcelona, Hamburg, Miami and many more interesting places. I love modeling a lot, I love fashion. I know it’s a superficial and hard scene to work in, but if you’re grounded and down to earth it’s a wonderful way to make some money, meet interesting people and see the world. Now…. for modeling I am a senior (26).

I am working with girls from 15 and 16 up so I feel pretty old..hahaha…time to change my path.

I wanted to educate myself more, so I decided to go back to school at the HVA this last September 2011.

It was terrifying to make this decision but it’s the best decision I made in my life. As a model I was  (and am) still doing very well, working for commercial clients in Germany and some regular clients here in Holland.

Financially modeling is attractive but after 7 years my inner self started to get bored with the whole fashion scene. The stylist, photographer and make up artist are all working creatively. The model however,  just turns up at the shoot and does what the art director tells them to do, no personal creativity is needed. Well the posing off course which is super important, but if your not working for Vogue each month it’s all quit minimal.

The course I chose to do is a 4 years course, CMV at the HVA.

It’s a very wide course. The study includes, learning how cultural society works and classes about starting your own creative business.

I know it sounds very vague, but it is an amazing course because it is so diverse and open to all initiatives from students. You get lectures regarding psychology, philosophy, culture marketing, business classes, documentary film making classes, drama, social learning, project management and sociology.

The course gives all first year students the change to pitch for De Verdieping (De Trouw).

This is a popular location located in Amsterdam where dance parties are being held in a old newspaper factory. The Verdieping is a smaller floor under the Trouw they program more cultural stuff like fashion shows, film screenings, art gallery’s but also club nights.

All first year students got the opportunity to form groups and come up with a program suiting for the location. There where 29 different groups pitching. The Verdieping chose one concept that they thought was most interesting and that concept would be realized. The concepts off all the students where really cool. my classmate Jessica (who I knew from modeling already) and I came up with a program we where both very excited about.

UNION

Out off all the groups pitching we won! Union will be realized on the 7th of June 2012.

On this blog ill give you a change to experience the journey I am making to make this event happen. Ups and Downs! Let me know your thoughts ;)
